We use information to provide requested travel guides and planning tools, communicate when you choose to hear from us, and keep the site running. You can ask questions about your information or unsubscribe from marketing emails.

1. Who operates WanderJosh

WanderJosh (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is an independent travel-content and planning website based in British Columbia, Canada. This policy explains how personal information is handled when you visit wanderjosh.com, request resources, use travel-planning tools, sign up for emails, or contact us.

The contact point for privacy inquiries is listed at the end of this policy.

2. Information we collect

Depending on which features you use, we may collect:

  • Information you give us: your email address, name (if requested), and messages you send through email or a contact form.
  • Planning information: details submitted to tools such as the Days Off Blueprint or PTO Multiplier, potentially including your departure city or region, workdays, available time off, travel-date range, and travel preferences.
  • Subscription records: when and how you subscribed, your consent preferences, and unsubscribe requests.
  • Technical information: information that our hosting and security providers may log, such as IP address, browser type, device characteristics, referring page, and pages requested.
  • Optional analytics or embedded content: information gathered through analytics, video embeds, or similar technologies if those features are enabled.

Please avoid submitting passport numbers, payment card information, health information, or other sensitive data through our general planning forms.

3. How we use information

We use information as reasonably necessary to operate WanderJosh, including to send requested guides and planning results, respond to inquiries, maintain site security, improve content and site performance, and administer subscriptions. We may use contact information to send travel tips, resources, and offers only when we have an appropriate basis and required consent.

If you use a planning tool, the information you provide is used to generate or deliver the output you requested. If you submit planning details to receive a result, those details may be processed by the tools and service providers used to deliver it, subject to the retention practices described below.

4. Email and marketing

When you request a free guide, we use your email address to provide that resource. Signing up to receive ongoing marketing emails is a separate purpose that we will explain clearly at the point of collection. We do not treat merely visiting the site as consent to email marketing.

Where applicable, marketing emails will identify the sender and provide a functioning unsubscribe option. You can withdraw marketing consent by using the unsubscribe link or contacting us. Transactional or requested service messages may still be sent when appropriate.

5. Service providers and third-party links

We may use service providers to host the website, send email, deliver resources, secure the site, and operate optional analytics or planning tools. They may process personal information on our behalf to provide these services. We do not publish or sell subscriber email lists to advertisers.

Some pages contain links to external travel companies, booking platforms, retailers, and other partners. Once you leave WanderJosh, the destination site’s own privacy practices apply. Affiliate partners may receive referral information and use cookies or similar technologies when you visit their sites. See our Affiliate & Sponsorship Disclosure.

6. Cookies and analytics

The site or its providers may use cookies or similar technologies needed for site operation, security, preferences, and embedded features. If we enable audience analytics or advertising technologies, we will describe those tools and provide any legally required notice or consent choices.

You can manage or delete cookies in your browser. Some site functions may be limited if essential storage is blocked.

7. Data security and retention

We take reasonable administrative and technical steps to protect the information under our control, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security. We keep information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose collected, for legitimate business needs, or where the law requires it. Subscriber details are removed from active marketing lists when you unsubscribe, while limited records may be retained to honour your choice or comply with law.

8. Your privacy choices and rights

You may contact us to ask what personal information we hold about you, request corrections, inquire about deletion where applicable, or raise a privacy concern. You may also withdraw consent where the law permits, subject to legal or operational limits. We will respond in accordance with applicable privacy law.

If you believe your concern has not been addressed, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.

9. International processing

Some service providers may process or store personal information outside British Columbia or Canada. When that happens, information may be subject to the laws of the country where it is processed. We remain responsible for choosing providers and managing information under our control as applicable law requires.

10. Children’s privacy

WanderJosh is intended for a general audience and is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, please contact us so we can review the request and take appropriate action.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the website, tools, or legal requirements change. The “Last updated” date above indicates the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated when required by law.
